Lunch Time Epiphany

Background on the subject. first off, I hate home made sandwiches. Can't stand them and could never figure out how people eat them. The past while we have been trying to take lunches to work to obviously eat better and save money kind of a win win all the way around but I have not been able to discipline myself enough to take a sandwich everyday like my beautiful wife does. Couldn't figure it out UNTIL TODAY! Generally speaking the sandwich is construct in the following manner:
2 slices whole wheat/natural grains/ brown dry bread
3-4 slices of kick ass turkey sometimes ham
1 slice of sharp cheddar
miracle whip
pretty decent sandwich and everyone has told me on several occasions that it looks good etc etc... However, i still ended up struggling with choking down dry grainy bread, globs of miracle whip (cause i thought it was a moisture issue), and chasing it with some energy drink- redbull, amp, adrenaline rush etc etc. So anyways, today someone else brought in a sandwich and understand this is like a 40 year old dude who suffers from ADD and bounces off the wall like a 5 year old kid on 20 redbulls if he takes a hit of 6 oz of diet coke. his sandwich had like half a bottle of MUSTARD... how in the hell did i forget mustard? why didn't think of this before? Now half a bottle maybe excessive but that is the key to any sandwich i'm convinced and will be experimenting with the correct mustard portions this evening. just figured i'd let you all know.

BTW: Also convinced now that people who like CLassic Lays potato chips over the new zesty pizza flavored taco infested ranch drenched Doritos are like chip connoisseurs. we discussed at length about the subtle salty taste mixed with the perfect amount of potato flavor and how it can really be enjoyed if the correct amount of time is spent in savoring the taste. he also brought up good points on how the thickness of the chip in direct proportion to the size and shape of the Classic Lays adds an increased sensation with every crunch. Doritos really are like the cheap MGD's or Natural lights and while many will fool themselves by buying sour cream and onion or sour cream and cheddar Lays bags its really just like the wanna be college student cutting his Pinot Noir with cranberry juice.

Labor Day Vacation pt2

Here are some more pictures. Playing Guitar Hero and playing at the park.

We also brought home some souvenirs from the beach ;)

That is my upper back and sides that got fried! (now its peeling and itchy yuck!)

That's Daniels leg, if you look closely you will see a perfect white handprint. He didn't put sunscreen on his legs so I must have grabbed his leg when I had some on my hand. LOL :D

Freaky Genetics

I am such a sucker for freaky genetics in animals. Like the cyclops cat and the fish with two mouths anyways I saw this one today and thought I'd show it to y'all. :)

:D

1. Leave a comment on my blog, one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember!

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you.

Recipes

I recently discovered an awesome website for recipes. :D It's http://www.recipezaar.com/. It has a ton of awesome functions like saving recipes to a cookbook, nutrition information and user ratings. One thing I really love is that you can change the serving size and it adjusts the recipe accordingly. I made the following recipe for dinner last night; it was super easy and fast and tasted awesome!

OVEN BAKED SWEET BBQ PORK CHOPS

Ingredients
1/4 cup onion, chopped
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup ketchup
3 tablespoons vinegar
1 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
salt
pepper
Directions
1-Combine everything in a small saucepan and bring to a boil (doesn't take very long). Simmer 5 minutes.
2-Place 3 pork chops in a pan (try to find one that they fit snugly in, so the sauce stays around them). Spoon sauce on top and cover.
3-Bake at 375 for 1 hour 45 minutes. (I use a meat thermoter so I cook to the exact well done temperture and mine only needed about an hour)

I served it with potatoes and salad. Enjoy!

Hiking

On Saturday we visited our best friend Michael and he took us for a hike up to Stewart Falls.

This lovely little piece of trail does not look that dangerous but it is very steep and slippery. One wrong move and you slide all the way down. Yes I know this from experience...I had 3 slips and falls of my own. :P

The falls were so gorgeous we took tons of pictures. These are just a few.

You can really see how huge they are in this picture. We look tiny.

It was so nice just being out in nature, so peacful and serene.
The hike itself was very nice, not too intense. I'll admit I'm pretty sore but thats because I'm lazy and never work out. All in all it was a really great day. Thanks Michael for taking us. :D
